What is ICF
Definition:
The Institut Català de Finances is a public-owned company, member of the Ministry of Economy and Finance of the Autonomous Government of Catalonia, the aim of which is to provide financial aid to the private and public sectors of the Catalan economy and which is vested with full legal status, and is in possession of its own equity and treasury, as well as being empowered with independent management for fulfilling its company purposes.
The ICF was founded by virtue of Act 2/1985 of 14th January.
Company objectives:
The general objectives of its activities are to support and promote economic business that contributes to the economic growth and improvement of the distribution of Catalonia's wealth, in particular, all activities that deserve special attention due to their social, cultural, innovative or ecological importance.
Performance principles:
As a public credit institution, ICF carries out its activity in accordance with the principle of financial equilibrium. It collaborates with the other financial institutions that operate in Catalonia and provide for the financing needs that the private financial system does not cover or else only partially covers.
Functions:
• As a public credit institution:
The company specialises in mid- and long-term financing of investments in tangible and intangible fixed assets, paying special attention to small and medium-sized companies, in financing investments in infrastructures and other equipment of public companies and promotes capital risk funds (ICF Holding, S.A.).
• As a financial agency of the Autonomous Government of Catalonia:
Under the express instructions of the Government, the company finances the parties affected by situations of economic crisis, natural disasters and other cases deemed to be of a similar nature. Moreover, and by means of agreements with private and/or public companies, it provides financial support to the economic sectors deemed to be of priority importance by the Government.
